Give Jimmy a Chance

The bus taking unrepentant libertarians off to re-education camps has been unable to make it to my place due to chaotic roadworks. And for this I am grateful. In time, I will comply of my own volition.

Comrades and comradettes, we now have a new president of the republic. Comrade Jimmy has made it to the post of top dog in Stravaraland. Having read Photini's post, I must admit I am scared shitless of TeePee still managing to pull a few strings.

Of course the one string he'd love to pull is one that could lead to some sort of appointment or position that would ensure immunity from prosecution. I mean, we couldn't really have a former dictator being indicted as a war criminal or a mega money launderer, could we? Who cares if we're talking about over $11 billion.

But that will be the subject of a future post. In the meantime, we're open to generous bribes. Unmarked Deutschmarks will not do, by the way. But, as Pikifrinos would say, I digress.

The day Raoul took over from Fidel, Stravaraland elected its first communist president. And that's the difference; it was a democratic and fair election. This blog will, no doubt, test his sense of humour and patience. I'm sure he'll take it in his stride.

I will return with a list of requests in a later post. Till then I wish to warn people of a new TeePee inspired bit of propaganda already rearing its ugly head via the State Broadcaster. The new line seems to go (as voiced by two anchors on Tuesday alone) along the lines of: "Won't all this interest in restarting negotiations by the foreigners put undue pressure on our new president...?".

Of course we also have out-of-the-blue gems such as the one spouted by M. Ignatiou on Mega that went along the lines of "The United States that once supported a coup and an invasion now seem to be supporting the re-unification of the island".
